Gorge No. 1 turns knife storage into a permanent part of the room. One substantial maple form carries a continuous walnut stream; five knives follow its course on concealed magnets.

It is functional sculpture without becoming precious: substantial, serviceable, and designed to make the tools used every day worthy of remaining in view.

The design language

A mark made
three-dimensional.

The walnut stream and staggered magnetic positions carry the Cossatot S into a useful object without turning it into a logo plaque. The silhouette stays monolithic, faceted, and realistically buildable.

Pale figured maple gives the walnut stream and dark knife handles separation. Matte black steel supplies visual and physical weight. One brushed brass line receives the river where it reaches the base.

The stream

A continuous walnut inlay carries the Cossatot S across the maple face. The five knife positions follow its course and complete the mark.

The hold

Rare-earth magnets remain unseen behind a thin maple face, tuned to the intended knives for secure placement and controlled removal.

The stance

A weighted blackened-steel plinth keeps the tall form settled while isolating the wood so it can move naturally with the seasons.

The restraint

One maple body, one walnut stream, and one aged-brass termination make the object recognizable without turning it into a logo plaque.
